Divorce affects people around the world. This is a
huge social issue for many reasons; we as humans created it, regardless of
where you live you are affected by a divorce in your family. In this specific
article an Australian man and woman are getting a divorce and the woman wants
the house. She is willing to go to such great lengths that she made up a story
about the house being haunted to get the price in the market to go down.
In relation to families, this would drive them
apart. The article did not say if this couple had children or not but for the
arguments sake, let’s say they have two children. As these children how would
you feel? The parents are fighting over assets rather than their own children.
But this goes for the same the other way. If the parents fight for the children
and the children often feel torn.
Divorce tears families apart, literally in the
second half of the article. Another couple from Cambodia fought so hard against
'their' house that the man actually sawed the house in half. The man took the
remaining debris and moved to his parents’ house and let his wife keep the half
that was still standing.
Marriage as an institution is being pulled apart
and ripping families apart all over the world. Around the world these actions
are slowly being accepted. Divorce was once unheard of, once the no-fault
divorce laws were passed; it became acceptable for reasons of addiction,
abandonment, or assault. Now, people get divorced for reasons they can’t even
explain themselves. In our societies around the world we should be questioning
the facilitation of divorce. Or, food for a though, the easy access of
marriage. Regardless, the amount of divorces around the world is significantly
higher than it should be.
