The
Australian reported that if North Korea’s international allies, South Korea,
continue to push for tougher United Nations resolutions then the country would
face its “final destruction”. The
conference they usually have is where the two countries trade jabs but this
time North Korea’s recent nuclear test that happened on Tuesday added some
urgency to the remarks. The European Union condemned the nuclear test that
happened on February 12 by North Korea and have now no longer enforced trade
and economic authorizations from the Asian nation. The European Union finance
ministers said that they condemned the last nuclear test that North Korea did
and demanded that they withdraw from further tests and sign the Comprehensive
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty immediately. The European Union ministers also “banned
the export of components for ballistic missiles such as certain types of
aluminum and they prohibited trade in new public bonds from North Korean”. On
Tuesday President Lee Myung-bak said “that North Korea will only face
international sanctions and isolation if it hangs on to its nuclear and missile
programs.” South Korea wants tighter U.N. sanctions on North Korea ever since
the third nuclear test that happened last week underground, even though North
Korea told them “it was an act of deterrence against U.S. hostility.”
When trying to analyze this situation you can
go in two different directions. The first direction that can happen is South
Korea wants to overtake North Korea by getting them to stop with the missiles
and stop with the nuclear testing. The European ministers are doing everything
in their power to stop North Korea and seems like they just want to protect
South Korea. So this situation can lead back to power, prestige, and property.
The power comes from the European Union and South Korea especially since the
European Union is stopping all imports of anything that could help make another
missile and making/wanted North Korea to sign a treaty that bans the use of
nuclear missile testing.
The second direction
that you could look at is the fact that North Korea is just using their
missiles to protect them and South Korea is getting scared so they want the
missiles gone and with the missiles gone North Korea has nothing to protect them
with. This situation could possibly lead to a unnecessary war and North Korea
is causing a lot of conflict between them and other nations and in fact are
being selfish because they are not really thinking about their people when it
comes to the fact that some imports are no longer allowed to go to their
country but then again they are protecting their country with the nuclear missiles.
It all really gets back the fact that one country has something the other
country wants or is in fear of the missile being used on them so they are going
to get power involved and try to prevent it from happening at least to them.
