This article is discussing Obama's plan to reduce power plant pollution. The reasons for this to try and control global warming. The pollution is creating illness and lung problems, premature deaths, and releasing climate changing gases. Global warming and carbon dioxide emissions has been a global problem with the vast speed of Industrialization through globalization. It is recognized as a problem but it is hard to find methods with the economy of capitalism to try and solve these problems. The article says that Obama is addressing the problems that the Congress chooses not to involve themselves with and he was granted the Clear Air Act. He has great plans for the decrease of emissions and statistics by 2020.
There are pros and cons towards being more efficient with our use of electricity and gas emission. Some pros are that our environment will be more preserved and taken care for. Another looking at the economic standpoint is that for the people of society they have the opportunity to have less health problems due to gas carbon dioxide. Also companies will make money from these new technologies and resources for energy efficiency, such as auto industry. Some cons are the people that worked in the coal mines could potentially lose their jobs also, it does cost alot of money to convert coal-fired plants to natural gas.All together I am for this cause.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/27/opinion/the-right-way-to-curb-power-plant-emissions.html?ref=environment&_r=0
