Education in Uganda

 Higher education in Uganda is in desperate conditions. The number of people now seeking higher education in the universities in this country are greatly surpassed by the means that the government has to provide them with the education. Government supported institutions are facing budget cuts and seeing that they are having a difficult time providing quality education to the number of students.  It may seem that they have huge numbers of people trying to get into the doors of these universities, but reality is that Uganda is still way behind on the amount of people able to get a higher education. Roughly 2 out of 1,000 people in Uganda will be able to enter into higher education studies at a university, compared to 100 out of 1,000 that have the chance in other African countries. It is also become harder for families to send their children to the universities in Uganda. Those once able to afford it are now seeing that with living costs on the rise, higher education is being push to the back of their minds. 

Here in the United States we understand how much higher education can benefit people and society. Understanding the Uganda is a troubled country financial wise, it is still surprising to see these numbers and what is happening to education in this country.
