On February 20, 2013, an article
was written on the future collaboration of International Computer Driving
License (ICDL) GCC and CWI at the first Iraq Education and Technology Summit in
Dubai. ICDL GCC Foundation is an activist in digital skills use and safety for-all
and the sole operator of the ICDL certification program across the GCC and Iraq
announced its collaboration with CWI Summits for the inaugural Education and Technology
Iraq Summit 2013. For this event, high-ranking Iraqi government officials and
the minister of Education and Science Research will be in attendance along with
support from UNESCO Iraq, US Department of State and the US Embassy in Baghdad.
The introduction and advancement of science and technology in the education
field is significant in the education movement.
The purpose of the summit “s to
foster a solid public and private sector partnerships and a roadmap to boost
the development of the physical and intellectual infrastructure in education in
order to reach world-class status and improve the lives of Iraqi citizens.” In
order to move forward and up in the world social class, Iraq feels as though
they need to improve their education field.
This collaboration
will benefit the education movement in Iraq. Introducing technology in the
education field will make the learning process for children a lot easier than
it is now. It will also help adjust the budget for books because the children
would be able to view things online rather than in old, worn-out textbooks. Not
only does technology help advance learning, but it exposes the children to so
much more culture outside of their own. World class is significant in growth in
a nation and having technology moves you up socially because of the networking
and connections made through technology. I feel this meeting will have a great
impact on the Iraqi government and education reform.
