In the UK there is a serious issue with
poverty. Over the last three years there has been a 9% increase in fuel poverty
in children. These people are turning to the prime minister to make all
of the ‘cold’ homes UK energy efficient. The funding to help these families has
been cut by 27%! These kids living in cold homes are much more likely to become
ill. Without the heat they are much more subjected to asthma and other repertory
complications. These families in poverty are forced to choose between feeding
their families for the winter and heating the house.
This is horrible to see. Poverty affects
everyone. When looking at the UK and seeing all of the money that is being paid
out to the tax giveaway and not being used to help those in poverty is
astonishing. Poverty in families has been a long ongoing issue. When poverty
strikes a family not only does it make it hard on the family but it affects the
children in every aspect of their lives. These children are missing so much in
their lives. If you look at the article and notice the cold homes are making
the children much more susceptible to illness it is evident to see that it will
change every aspect of their life from their educational studies all the way to
their long-term health. This problem cannot be solved entirely as we cannot end
world poverty but the choice here is clear; instead of paying out these three
billion pounds why don’t they use some of this money to help those in poverty and
save over a million children’s lives just by getting them out of the cold.
