Terror suspect admits Israeli attack plan

Two men from with Lebanese origin admitted to plan a terror attack of Israeli tourists in Thailand. Their plan was to bomb a public place, where a group of Israeli’s visited the city. Both terrorists were linked to the Hezbollah, a Islamic militant group and political party based in Lebanon. They both had passports from Philippines, but they turned out genuine. Youssef Ayad also gave the police useful information about the planned attack. They tried to carry out a bomb attack against Israeli tourists and other Israeli groups on Khao San Road during Songkran. Khao San Road is a popular place among Israeli tourists.

The Hezbollah is known for their dangerous attacks especially against Israelis. The war in 2006 deteriorates the relationship between the two countries.  The fact that they tried to attack them in Thailand is even worst, because no one is expecting that in this area. The biggest problem is how these two terrorists could easily traveled to Thailand with passports form Philippines.  Luckily the police and the government could prevent the attack, but in future their has to be a better control about people who travel around the world. Another thing is that you have to find the people and groups who build bombs in Bangkok and everywhere else in the country. Overall the police and everybody else who was involved in that criminal case, made a good job to prevent the actual attack. With the information from the terrorist they should be able to find out more about terror  groups in Thailand.

Blog 8. 25 suspect Ukrainias were detained by the Russian FSB

This article is about the disturbances between Ukraine and Russia. Russia troops are now fully in control of the Crimean peninsula. The main topic of this article is that Russia’s Federal Security Service has detained 25 Ukrainians, accusing them of planning terrorist attacks at about the time of last month’s Crimean referendum. The tensions are high after Russia took over the Crimean. In a statement, the FSB said Ukrainians were planning attacks between 14-17 March.

But the main violence happened during protests. More then 100 Ukrainians got killed during these disturbances.

The take over from Crimean from Russia is a very serious and dangerous action for the whole world. Russia tries to become more powerful and this taker over is maybe only the start of more. The Nato and other countries has to get together now and show Russia the abuttals. Because of everything that happened it is obvious that the Ukrainians are hurt and angry. But terror attacks are not a good solution. No one really wants are World War 3, so they shouldn’t start attacking Russia even if they furious. All the countries have to come together now and find a friendly solution. But you have to show Russia and their President Putin that they cannot do everything they want. America also plays a big part in that problem because Russia is always a important but also dangerous partner.

Blog 7. Obama fears nuclear attack, but cuts budget for protection.

Obama fears New York City nuclear attack, but he again proposes to cut budget for city’s protection. In a lot of his speeches President Obama talks about the danger and fear of nuclear attacks in Manhattan. But in real life he cut the budget for the protection and security. NYC is always a target for terrorists. Every year since he took the office, the President has proposed significant reductions to programs that are for the security against nuclear terror attacks.

It is not very authentic, when the President talks about the fear and the danger if nuclear terror attacks, but on the other hand he reduces costs for programs, which help to be saver and prepared. If you act like that the society of America will be distrustful. They also life in fear, if something like this would happen and they don’t know how to survive or be prepared for that. There is definitely a possibility that terror groups have nuclear bombs. Also countries like North Korea always testing new bombs and this is dangerous for the whole world. The president should do everything he can to give money to programs that upgrading security against terror attacks. He would also gain the trust of the society that he really cared about that problem, because if really something happens, a lot of people would blame him.

Terror attack in Kabul killed nine people.

A terror attack in Kabul/Afghanistan killed nine people at a popular restaurant.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack and it was the second one in a restaurant this year. The victims are from Canada, new Zeeland, Indian and Pakistan. The attack happened after four people who hid pistols in their socks pretended that they had come for dinner in the restaurant of the hotel, and then began the fire of these innocent people. The entire four terrorists were also killed.

Afghanistan is known for their terror attacks and the danger of the Taliban. They look especially for places like the famous hotel in the center of the city, because there are always a lot of foreigners. The goal of the Taliban is still to fight against the western culture and provoke them. There has to be better security in a hotel like that. It is way to easy for the terrorists to hid the guns in the socks and then start to shoot. It is really hard to fight against the Taliban and now after a lot of countries ended the time in Afghanistan with their military, the Taliban can spread our again and control the county with their attacks. The only thing the police and the security can do is to snap the terrorist before they actually attack innocent people. They have to find a way to recognize this people earlier.

Blog 4 : Horror in Nigeria

Two days ago a terror attack in Nigeria killed 29 boys. A Gunman from the Islamist group Boko Haram stormed in the north east of the country and boys got burned to death. This Group fights for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria and more then 200 people were killed in two attacks last week. Nigeria’s president tries to fight against the group with military and the help from Cameroon.

The Boko Haram is an Islamic militant and terrorist organization based in the northeast of Nigeria, north Cameroon and Niger. The organization seeks to establish a Islamic state ruled by sharia law and they are against the westernization. Violence linked to Boko Haram insurgency has resulted in an estimated 10,000 deaths between 2001 and 2013. Nigeria and the other countries have to stick together to fight against this group and to prevent more of terrible terror attacks. Nigeria has to find ways to shut down borders to other countries over the mountains, that the terrorist cannot come in or escape through the mountains. You never are able to prevent a terror attack for sure but if you establish new rules and laws and work together with other countries and their military, you can make it harder for this group to grow and do terror attacks.

Blog 3 Syria ready to help Lebanon fight terrorism

This article is about terrorism in Lebanon and the offer from Syria to help them to fight against it.  After a terror attack this past Wednesday, were twin suicide bombings targeting the Iranian Cultural Center in Beirut, Syria announced that statement that they are ready to help Lebanon to fight against Terrorism. At this attack eleven people got killed and 128 got injured. The latest attacks are associated with Hezbollah.  The bombings were claimed by a al Qaeda linked group called Abdullah Azzam Brigades.

This terror group, which is linked to the Al Qaeda, asked for the withdrawal of Hezbollah from Syria. The Hezbollah is a Shi’a terrorist group and political party based in Lebanon, but also have a big impact in the Syrian military. After the recent attacks the Syrian ministry is ready to offer Lebanon and cooperate with them for the safety and security for people in Lebanon and Syria. That is the only way hoe you control a conflict between to countries. You have to work together and find a solution that terror attacks and fights will reduce. A lot of countries are involved in the Syrian conflict. Everybody wants to pursue their interest. But the most important things are that they find a solution that reduces the violence and the terror attacks. A first step is that Lebanon and Syria try to cooperate.

This article is about the increase of Global Terrorism in the last 5 years. Since 2009 the amount of insurgency attacks and Global terrorism increased 150%. A reason for this rapid change is the large amount of suicide attacks in Iraq and an ongoing civil war in Syria. In 2009 there was a total of 7,217 attacks recorded and in 2013 the number was 18,524. These rises are one of the largest in several years.  The article describes an attack as an event in which a sub-state actor, whether an individual, individuals or organizations, commits politically or ideologically motivated acts of violence with the goal of forcing others to comply their objectives and that results in death, damage, or disruption.

The increase of Terrorism and attacks is a big issue in the World’s society. In regions like Iraq or Syria there is no democracy and the government is all about corruption and power. There are groups of Terrorism in these countries who try to give a statement with an attack or a suicide. Since most of the American soldiers disappeared out of Iraq the amount of terror attacks increased. These countries are not able to establish democracy and freedom on their own.  They need help from countries around the world to decrease Terrorism and violence. Also on countries like Pakistan or Iraq there a so many poor people and groups like the Taliban uses that for their benefit. They give them many and food, but they have to join their group and suddenly normal people are terrorists. The help of other countries is necessary to decrease Terrorism

Terrorims Sochi Winter Games

Summary:

This article is about the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi/ Russia and the fear and risk about a terrorist attack. Dr. Gordon Woo asserts that an attempted attack on the Sochi Olympic Games by black widow terrorists is almost certain to happen. Because of the history and strains between Russia and the Caucasus Emirates, Sochi is a prime target for terrorism. Caucasus is a self- proclaimed virtual state in Russia, born in rebellion against Russian rule. The group of terrorists has been associated with al-Qaida. They aim to establish an Islamic state based on shariah law. Woo explained that it is a matter of when and not if a terrorists attack will happen against Russia and Putin. The Olympic games never been placed in an area where terrorism is close. People shouldn’t go to crowed places and avoid any events outside of the stadiums.

Analysis:

This article shows how current Terrorism is right now even in Europe.  The Olympic Games are of the biggest sports events in the world and they are always a big target for terrorists to make an attack.  These Athletes and different kind of sports has nothing to do with the political problems between Russia and the Caucasus Emirates.  But often times it doesn’t matter because these kinds of events are a good opportunity for terrorist to call attention to Putin and the world. Terrorism is still a big issue in our society and it is difficult do avoid any kinds of attacks. It is important that a lot of security is around Sochi to make the beautiful Games safe.
