Summary
A Polygamy Ranch out in Texas has been recently investigated for many cases of sexual abuse. The leader of the colony, Warren Jeff, has also been accused and sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing two girls. The ranch is being shut down and 416 children were removed from the area. They also found that some of the mothers there were under 18 and that made the number rise to 468. A lot of these girls were forced into marrying old men because it was "spiritual". The men deny ever sexually abusing a lot of these young girls and say it was consensual. About 130 women left the ranch voluntarily and did not want to stay there. There are still investigations going on and people are still being questioned about the other possible victims of this horrible crime.
Analysis
Although Warren Jeff was charged with raping a 13 and a 15 year old girl it is highly possible there are other to his list. It is so sad that someone could do this and that a lot of these women have lived in this colony and their rights have been taken from them. Although the men have denied that this crime is taking place it most likely takes place a lot especially in a polygamist society where it is acceptable to have many wives. Most people do not agree with this lifestyle and consider it a sin to have more than one wife or not be monogamous. When interview most of the people were happy to see the ranch was being broken up and were glad that they would not have to live near something they did not agree with.

Blog 9: Egypt and Sexual Harrasment
Summary
In this article it talks a lot about the issues that Egypt has with sexual assault against women. In Egypt there is a huge problem with men respecting women. When a study was done in 2013 by the United Nations it was reported that 99.3 percent of women in Egypt have experienced some form of sexual harassment. This astounding number has lead to a lot of women standing up for themselves and speaking out about their rights as women and the disrespect of men. Hardly anything is being done right now if a woman gets harassed by a man. A lot of people there go far enough to say that it is the woman's fault if they get harassed by men because it means they are not covered enough. One woman states that these kind of events even happen to covered girls and that it does not make too much of a difference. One of the government officials says that the culture of Egypt needs to change in order for anything to improve. Another victim says that the reason a lot of these problems are still around is because the women are shamed into being quiet and the problem is left there.
Analysis
Although Egypt is having a lot of problems with sexual harassment I feel as if it is definitely a worldwide problem. It is however more common in countries similar to the Egyptian culture. Women need to empower themselves if they want to change something. They need to get men on their side to convince other men that this type of behavior is wrong and demeaning to women. They should be respected. Women get sexually harassed no matter what they are wearing in a lot of cases. If you want to be respected though, it does help to dress modestly and make yourself look respectable otherwise it is harder for men and other women to respect you if you do not respect yourself.

Blog 7: End of Innocence in South Africa
Summary:
Children are now being targeted for rape in South Africa. This gruesome report has pictures to describe different scenarios that have happened in South Africa as of recently. Sexual abuse is a big problem all over the world and more and more young infants and children are becoming victims. In this posting on CNN News each picture has a story. In one photo a child has tears streaming down their face because they are at a classmates funeral. The classmate was raped and murdered by a man who admitted to doing so. The guilty man was later beaten to death in prison. Children are especially vulnerable for molestation and rape because they are still learning and are very easy to convince. Another picture depicts women at a funeral of a three year old girls who was also raped and murdered. South Africa is battling this horrible and disgusting crime as they also have a high crime rate they are trying to combat.
Analysis:
Rape is an ugly horrible thing and the government does not have high enough punishment for it. There have been abusive rapist that only spend six months in jail and then are released back into the world. Most of them end back up in jail with a lot more time put on them but only after they have committed the same crime to another poor victim. Possession of drugs is taken more seriously than something way more harmful and destructive. Rape not only is taking away these children's innocence, its taking away the spark that every child should have. Many children who go through abuse are robbed of their childhood and joy. This is a very big deal and even in America not enough is being done.

blog 6: More Sexual Assault in the Army?
Summary
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair was accused two years ago of sexually assaulting a woman. The woman says he tried to force her to have sex with him and give him oral sex and threatened to kill her family if she did not give in to his demands. Mr. Sinclair denies these accusations but does admit to adultery with another woman. The court decided to fine Sinclair 20,000 dollars and set him free from any jail time. There are rumors that a lot of other officials in the Army were involved to make sure that Sinclair did not get jail time. A lot of people were outraged by the judges decision and felt that the woman did not get her justice. Others believe that the woman was lying and that her testimony had been fabricated. Sinclair even makes the comment that "the system worked" and he is very proud of his Army. He has been asked to retire and is doing so. He is going home to his family and is hoping to mend the broken pieces of his life.
Analysis
Overall the system is corrupt and for all we know that man could have been guilty and is now loose in society. Usually a man who has sexually assaulted someone will do it more than once. The government should not give the Army protection against sexually assaulting someone. Laws should be made to fight against the protection of corrupted Army men. This kind of result could make sexual crime in the Army more prevalent due to the fact that they may get the idea that they can get away with it since so many others have. The Army is about loyalty and respect for this country, and these specific men need to realize that if they are willing to humiliate and take that freedom away from a victim then the should not be allowed to serve in the U.S. Army.

Sex Crimes in the Army
Summary:
Lt. Col. Joseph Morse was accused of groping a woman lawyer in 2011 and is now being put under investigation. This Lieutenant was at a sexual assault conference and the female lawyer says that he touched her inappropriately in the hotel room. There has been an epidemic of sexual crimes in the army in the recent years that has come to light. A bill is now trying to be passed that the investigations for these crimes are researched more in depth and also that in some cases you can be stripped of your title if an incident like this happens to member of the army. The Pentagon does not want this bill to pass because they think that will take their power away. They think that they have trained professionals in that division that can deal with the cases better. There has been multiple reported incidences with higher army officials saying or doing sexual things and objectifying women and disrespecting them.
Analysis:
There is definitely a problem all over the world with sexual related crimes. It is not just a problem that is showing up in the Army, but everywhere. If a man that is that high in a position does something that is disrespectful to a woman, they should be stripped of all their titles and do not deserve to oversee others because they cannot even control themselves. The Army has a lot of protection on their men and they try to keep them from getting any punishment for their actions a lot of times because they have favoritism or they do not want to lose a valued member. This problem will only get worse if it does not get fixed or if it gets pushed to the side. These men need to realize that with great power comes great responsibility, not just to themselves but to the women that are also fighting for this country and have as many rights as they do.

Brazil's Reputation Might be Looking for a Change?
Summary:
In this article it talk about the issue of Brazil and how they are tired of their country being a hot spot for "sex tourism". Adidas recently made two lines of shirts that were very racy and had sexual implications on them . These shirts apparently upset Brazil and they asked Adidas to remove the shirts and to stop selling them because it was bringing the wrong kind of attention to their country. Although these shirts were only going to be on sale for a limited time, Brazil still insisted on taking them off the market. One of the big reasons for Brazil's uproar is that their government is trying to get rid of their promiscuous reputation. The shirts were made for the World Cup Soccer Tournament and were meant to be a fun thing for Adidas to launch as well as a way to heighten the sales profit. The President of Brazil Is very serious about the whole matter and says that he will definitely be very strict when 600,000 foreigners come to watch the WCST.
Analysis:
I think that a lot of countries are facing this stereotype right now of having women who are being greatly sexualized. It is an ongoing problem that is getting worse. Adidas should have asked Brazil for permission to make the shirt because it implies a lot of things about Brazil that Brazil does not want right now. Although Adidas was sponsoring the event, it still would have been respectful to make shirts that were more appropriate for all of the audience and less sexist towards women. Sexual advertising is everywhere now and is linked to many negative outcomes including possible rises in the rates of sexual crimes. The world is getting out of hand in many ways and it is a good thing that Brazil has noticed and is taking action for the problems in that area.

Summary
According
to research done by researchers from Carleton University and Environment Canada
Polar bears are wiping out seagull eggs due to climate change. Usually these
Polar bears eat larger prey such as seals. They travel on ice to get out deeper
into the ocean and then dive in and catch seals and eat them. Since the ice
over the water has been melting the polar bears cannot go out far enough into
the water to catch any seals. This has caused them for look for food on land.
Most birds lay their eggs on rocks right off the shore, which is easy access
for the polar bears. “Even a single polar bear can devastate all the eggs on a
single island where birds such as common eiders nest.”(Steve Marson) This has
made a big impact on a lot of birds and hundreds of eggs are being eaten ever
day because of the climate change. The bears are even targeting nests that are
higher up on cliffs by climbing to the nests and eating their way to the top.
Analysis
This
report is just showing one of the ways that weather change can affect more than
just one species. It also brings awareness to the fact that the ice is melting
at more rapid rates and polar bears are trying not to starve to death. In the
meantime the bird population in those areas is going to have a substantial drop
due to all of the eggs that the polar bears are eating. Sea birds have not been
extremely affected by this all but if it continues, much like anything, it
could cause more than one population to struggle. The temperatures rising in
the Arctic has had a bigger impact than most would expect.
