blog 6 Northern China water spill

On Decemeber 31 there was a chemical spill in Northern China. Many other villages such as Hanbon were affected as well and the spill was due to fertilizer factory upstream. This has created a large problem for the water use of the population. This article is addressing that the commerce of these factories were withhelding information and delaying the announcement of the spill due to the fear of losing their economic growth. Investigations had taken place and lawsuits were brought upon the factory. The arguement is that Communist leaders need to make safety as a priority. The Greenpeace East Asia team brought about statistics of waterwaste leading to numbers of 6 million tons of wastewater per year. Other statistics were from inspections in 2011 in 200 cities in China that led to showing that 55% of tested water was not good quality or extremely bad water.
Environmental issues need to be taken in large because it is a global issue. This factory in China is worried about the industrial advancement but what needs to be taken into consideration is that we rely on the environment as well to reach these economic accomplishments. Now The factory is dealing with lawsuits and is harming the people that they want to get money from. Instead of putting off environmental issues because it seems as something that isnt direct loss in the end it does come back and can not be avoided.
