North Korea rejects Security Council Resolution

It is quite clear that North Korea has become completely dedicated to developing itself as country with a nuclear weapons program.  On Friday, the United Nation’s Security Council declared it will impose greater sanctions on financial restrictions and will crack down on North Korea’s attempt to ship banned cargo.  This will be the fifth U.N. sanction against North Korea since 2006.
In February, North Korea conducted its third nuclear test; the last test was in 2009.  Reports say that the blast was significantly more powerful than last.  Tensions are growing on the Korean peninsula and in neighboring Japan.  China, North Korea’s strongest ally, says that the best possible action is to talk North Korea down and not impose stronger sanctions.
No country in the world should have the right to nuclear weapons, these weapons are disgusting and worthless, but is imposing more sanctions on North Korea really the smartest choice?  China may have the right idea in explaining that the best thing to do right now is to talk the North Korean government down.  Is it so wrong to come to an agreement between North Korea and another nuclear superpower like, the United States of America?  If the United States could agree to disarm “X” number of nuclear weapons so that North Korea stops their whole nuclear weapons production program than maybe that is the right direction.  Achieve peace by eliminating all possible threats of war.
All in all, the United Nations needs to focus on the moral injustice of placing economic sanctions on a country like North Korea.  The citizens of North Korea are already in a terrible situation and the United Nations needs to help North Korea, not threaten them.
