In this article it discusses how women in the UK strive for
the “perfect boobs” so they are now tattooing them which is known as “tittooing.” This tittooing comes from the idea of brow
definition, but just to the nipples, it darkens and defines them. The article stated that it “is a process
which originated as a medical procedure for breast reconstruction. Now, it
serves as a cosmetic procedure for women to darken, enlarge and define their
nipples and the surrounding areola.” The
ages of women getting this procedure done ranges from 18 to 25. In the article, it explains and gives quotes
from actual women who went through with this procedure, some as old as 38. They tell how they got it because their
boyfriends would like it, because they wanted bigger and darker nipples, to
create symmetry between the breasts, and some to enhance the looks of the boobs
after having a boob job.
When reading this article I was so amazed! I had never heard
of women getting tattoos upon their nipples to give them a look that they felt
was better. This just goes back to an article
that I previously did. Why must women go
through drastic matters in order to change themselves? Why can’t women just be happy with what they
have? I completely understand something’s,
just NEED to be changed, but the color of your nipple? I feel as though this just may be a little too
much! But as the numbers grow in the UK
of people who get this procedure and the number of doctors who will perform it
I know there is only a matter of time before it reaches the US if it hasn’t
already. One question I did want to know
was if this procedure was targeted towards one particular race or has it been
done more on one particular race of women.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this trend will end up and if it
will remain “safe” as it is said to be in the article.
