Blog 8: honeybees disasters

An article from the new york times discusses how honeybees are in danger. The number of bees that are dying off are increasing and this is a great concern for environmentalists. Bees are a huge part of our world and are a resource. Bees pollinate crops and when bees are dying off it is causing problems for the crops which is turn causing a problem for our resources. Researchers have a large concern with a pesticide called neonicotinoids. Scientists say that this pesticide harms the bees and kills them off leaving them to not have as many hives and not polluting the crops. It's a huge debate because scientists are saying that they are harmful but the manufactures of this chemical say that it is not harmful and there can be other things that can be harming the bees and reasons of this decrease.
My concern is that once these bees are extinct there is not turning back. Bees are unique and need to be treated valuable because it is a resource that we need. It not just effects the states but it also effects the world, because if we can't produce and crop what we need for the huge trade market, then that causes an issue. The world has developed into a very interlink globe and we rely on each other for certain resources that are available to us. This is a lesson and example it's not just seen with the bees. We today make many choices that are going to effect us in the future and won't have the choice to change because we may lose things that are impossible to get back.
