Suicide bomb blast kills 27 at Internet cafe in Baghdad

In Baghdad, a suicide bomber killed at least 27 people and wounded dozens more. This has been the worst single attack in the Iraqi capital this year. The crime in Baghdad came two days before provincial elections that that will be a major test of Iraq’s political stability after a year since the last American troops left the country. Police and witnesses said emergency workers struggled get victims out when the blast collapsed part of the building that housed a shopping center below Dubai cafĂ©, which was on the third floor. Ten years after the U.S. led invasion, Sunni Islamists linked to al Qaeda have commit at least one major attack a month. However, insurgents have committed more suicide attacks since the start of the year as part of a campaign to provoke confrontation between the country’s Shi’ite and Sunni Muslims. Al Qaeda has said they will keep up the attacks and security officials say the group is gaining ground and recruits in the western desert bordering Syria.
There has been a lot of tension between the government and Al Qaeda, which has resulted in these suicide bombings. This is another example of how different our government is different from the U.S. In the U.S. we do not have to worry about suicide bombers. This could be considered a social global issue because of the amount of people it is harming. The blast killed 27 people and there is a threat of more bombings. Hopefully, the government can crack down on the Al Qaeda and stop any future bombings.
