Blog 1: Animal rights groups blame Wildlife Dept for Kochi temple tusker’s death

In India about 5 hours ago an elephant had to lose its life due to lack of care and preparedness. The temple elephant had come to Kochi for a festival and got stuck in the marsh at Kochi.  Many Animal right Campaigners are upset that the Wildlife Department did not respond in time. The elephant was able to be rescued after 12 hours using a rope but suffered and died shortly form exhaustion. Even though, the Wildlife Department was called in to help rescue the elephant they were not skilled in handling the type of situation they had at hand. Which lead to the situation getting out of hand.
This situation right here just goes to show that all animals need to be protected no matter how big or small. Even though, the Wildlife Department was called in they were not skilled in handling elephant situations like the one explained above. If they had known how to handle the situation then the situation may not have gotten out of hand and the elephant may still be alive today. There has to be a stop to people turning the blind eye as the owners and festival organizers did in this case. If there are certain rules of conduct and maintenance of capturing any animal all of those steps should be taken into consideration and followed. Those rules and regulations were set in place for a reason and are important to be followed. Just because, short cuts can be taken doesn’t mean that they are safe.
