Britain sets out plans for first 'three-parent' IVF babies

Three-parent IVF techniques are under consideration for human trials in the UK. This would make Britain, the first country in the world to offer three parent fertility treatments. The three parents IVF treatment would be used to prevent the possibility of family related illnesses such as mental illnesses that run in either the father or mothers side of the family. This three-parent process would consist of a father, mother and then the female carrying the carefully examined embryo. This new medical research would put Britain highly valuable and would make them the first to actually allow and facilitate this idea of three-parent inventor. The ethical outcomes of this treatment are being questioned and will determine weather or not they will be able to start human trials. The British Medical ethical panel examined this research and they were told to continue research as long as things seem to stay safe and effective.

Although this idea of three- parent IVF treatment is a huge advance in medical history and extremely impressive, we must take a step back and take into consideration how this treatment might lead to harmful repercussions. This god complex seems to be extremely relevant to this article and idea of three parents IVF. If we make way for treatments like these to be possible, we could be attempting to create a perfect race of human beings. If we make this available to parents with known mental illness and other health related family history, then we will soon have to offer it to everyone because if we don’t then we could potentially be creating a perfect species free of all illnesses and if that is the case then everyone will want to have that be a option for their child.
