New garment factory raises standards

Summary: This article discusses a new factory in Cambodia focused on social responsibility. The factory, called Pactics, has been built with sustainability in mind. It was designed for maximum air flow to eliminate the need for air conditioning. It also is concerned with workers rights and comfort. They guarantee a safe work environment and a decent salary. The general manager says the focus is on corporate social responsibility.

Analysis: This is a big deal for the garment manufacturing industry. Pactics will hopefully create a trend in the industry towards better working conditions and environmental responsibility. This is also great for Cambodia, a country still in the process of developing, ranked number 148 on the Human Development Index. I think it is a good sign for Cambodian factory workers and their famillies.
