Rise in Poverty in Australia
Australian economy seems to be getting worse according to an article I read on ABC news. 14.4 percent of Australia's population cannot even make ends meet. Child poverty and youth poverty is on the rise within the country. The article also mentioned that 10% of Australians cannot afford to buy enough food. They fall below on the average for a lot of these issues according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Analysis : While Australia may not be one of the worse countries in terms of poverty, this article does show that poverty does exist in many different places around the globe. It is a global issue that need to be addressed and, handled. When the article mentioned that they were beginning to have an increase in child and youth poverty, it made me think of an image that was shown in the sociology 202 of a group of kids that were sifting through garbage. It was assumed that they were doing so to make money from what they found there so that they could survive, or make ends meet. This could very soon become Australia if proper actions are not done.
